Postcards
For ease of creation, these are the best form of mailart to use. All you need is a stiff piece of cardstock and a pen, pencil or paints to get one of these objects in the mail and on it's way to your target. They are also the cheapest (except for international destinations) form of mailart. Just 23¢ will send this item cross country. The U.S.P.S. is picky about the size so if you don't use standard sizes (Maximum size: 6" long, 4-1/4" high, and 0.016" thick), be prepared to tack on a few more stamps or you will find it back in your box with a postage due stamp on it. Postcards are also a great way to recycle other works, junk mail, cereal boxes and any other consumer byproduct you might normally throw away. Just think about it, you can send someone your enhanced garbage and it might end up in a museum or a closet instead a landfill! There are many examples of this kind of art like the Art Umbrella in Hungary, Carla Cryptic's hand card in Berkeley or Klaus Rupp's (alias Merlin) bare skin from Germany.
